I AM A WRITER and communications consultant living in Salem, Oregon. My writing, on topics ranging from arts and entertainment, to food, parenting, travel, gardening and health, has appeared in numerous publications locally, regionally and nationally. In addition, I have more than 15 years of professional experience in arts administration, with a focus on marketing, public relations and fundraising.
My initial foray into public relations came through an internship that I held while I was an English major at the University of Oregon. Combining my passion for the arts and PR set the course for many future endeavors. In the early 90s, I spent time working in the arts in Portland before moving to Washington, D.C. where I attended American University and earned a combined MA in Arts Management and Public Communications. I remained in Washington, D.C. for the next 10 years, working in public relations and marketing for a variety of cultural organizations. In 2005 I began freelancing and since then have worked as both a writer and PR consultant. In 2006, I jumped at the opportunity to return to the Pacific Northwest with my husband, Jonathan, and son, Milo.
